Most rear lanes are not council owned so the clearing of fly tipped rubbish and other waste is the responsibility of the owner. If they can’t be traced then responsibility is with the households adjoining the lane.

Thank you for your report. Fly-tipping which is on public land will be removed by SWISCo. SWISCo are not responsible for waste on private property. The Community Safety team do not routinely launch an investigation into every report which is made to them. Each case is assessed and prioritised based on a range of risk factors, so that resources are directed at the areas with the highest risk. However we do monitor all information given to us and use it to inform the wider concerns which may exist. We are unfortunately not able to respond to every customer complaint personally but will attempt to do so as part of our investigations.
